International Cooperation to Stop ISIS

Government ought to protect its citizens from those who would really want to kill us. Our military is known to be the strongest in the world. Our young men and women we send overseas in uniform and our citizens at home deserve to have a winning strategy and a plan before we engage in a military fight. Instead, our Executive branch is acting upon a 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force to fight ISIS in Syria and elsewhere. The Constitutional power of Congress must be reclaimed.
"[The Congress shall have Power...] To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water..." --Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution
Instead of sending weapons overseas without a plan, or issuing bombing raids without coordination of other governments, it's time for Congress to have a real debate about what we're doing with ISIS and Islamic terrorism. I am not afraid to represent our district and debate this issue on the Congressional floor until we come to a conclusion as to who our allies are and whether we authorize war or not.
I believe we must not give up the fight to protect our nation from the continued advances made by terrorists and those suffering at the hands of ISIS. Our people at home need to be informed of the threat and not be made to feel afraid to report suspicious activity or show concern. We must name the enemy, find a path for justice, educate the public, and do what we can to stop future attacks.
