A big thank you to Tom Marthaler for his enthusiastic participation on Team Hinson! And also, thanks to his daughter, Danyelle Marthaler, for introducing her dad to our campaign and also getting involved!
Tom got involved in politics at an early age, but it was when he experienced being a small business owner in Sauk Centre that he became a serious, regular participant in political activity. He became a member of the Independent Business Association of Minnesota (IBAM) in the 1980s and worked to influence Minnesota State legislators.
Caucus night this year, Tom got a text message from his college-aged daughter, Danyelle Marthaler who was at the Moorhead Republican caucus and had just heard Amanda Lynn Hinson speak: "Hey Dad, I just heard someone speak that makes a good candidate." Danyelle was excited that someone running for Congress shared her views, and hearing Amanda strengthened her own values. Danyelle, who is studying Communications at Minnesota State University in Moorhead, will be joining Team Hinson to work with social media.
"We're a politically active family," Tom said, noting that he wasn't surprised Danyelle made it to the caucus. "I put my time into nurturing the soil, to worry about where she got her information and influences without micromanaging the results."
Being energized by his daughter's own excitement, Tom sent a note to the Hinson Campaign in April along with a package filled with office supplies and a donation. Since then, Tom has actively worked to spread the word about Amanda and her run for Congress. You may see Tom at a parade, hosting a meet and greet, or finding donors.
"It was easy for me to get excited about Ms. Hinson's candidacy, and I look forward to helping take her message to other folks, who, like me, have been waiting too long."
Please help us welcome Tom and Danyelle!
We are always looking for volunteers to help get the word out! You can join our team here!
